Head Coach Gail Parata reveals final athletes joining the UWS Sirens Select Squad for Superclub Competition

18th August 2018

We’re only 1 day away from our Superclub debut, and what better time to introduce our final players joining our UWS Sirens Select Squad – New Zealander Monica Falkner and Australians Gia Abernethy, Nicole Styles and Laura Towell!
Monica Falkner was recently named in the New Zealand A Squad and on track to be a future Silver Fern. Gia Abernethy, Nicole Styles and Laura Towell currently compete in the Australia Netball League. They’re all super excited to join the team and take to court tomorrow for our first match of the Super Club Netball competition against the Te Wananga o Raukawa Pulse, runners up in the ANZ premiership competition held in New Zealand.
Head Coach Gail Parata said: “I am looking forward to bringing this group of talented athletes into the Sirens fold and seeing what we can produce on court. We had our first full squad training today and we have a tough match to start off with tomorrow against the Pulse. But I have no doubt the team will relish the opportunity to play in the Super Club competition and gain valuable experience.”
Monica Falkner, Gia Abernethy, Nicole Styles and Laura Towell will join Scottish teammates Claire Maxwell, Bethan Goodwin, Emma Barrie, Nicola McCleery, Kelly Boyle, Emily Nicholl, Ella Gibbons, Hayley Mulheron on court tomorrow against Pulse at 4.58pm (New Zealand time).
